On the left is a relatively large, two sided sign we recently completed. It features a detailed hand-painted great blue heron on each side and the classic "clustered piling" support structure. This sign face measures 3.5' x 7' and was built with two identical 1.5" thick signs mounted back to back. Red, white and blue color combination was specified by the client. |
The sign on the right is the result of considerable input from the Homeowner's Association. This can be scary, but this turned out to be a reasonable and intelligent group of people. The result is a good-looking sandblasted redwood sign that ought to last them many years. The dimensions are about 30" x 72". |

| How They're Made: | |
Sandblasted sign faces are most often made of HDU, or high-density urethane. This material has been proven superior to redwood in long-term exterior durability. Backgrounds are sandblasted in dramatic wood grain patterns using special jigs. Structural reinforcement is included, as required, using pressure-treated lumber. All surfaces are sealed, then finished with top-quality paints and stains designed for extended outside exposure in a variety of climates. |
| What They Cost: | |
Our cost for each project is based on $60 per square foot. This cost is for a fully finished one-sided sign, designed and finished to your specifications. Signs finished on both sides are always thicker, usually include screw-eyes or integral pressure-treated wood frames, and are generally priced at $110.00 per square foot. |
