This is a redwood sign face, sandblasted on both sides. A large area was left blank at the bottom of the sign face, to allow mounting of the six smaller routed message panels. These have the advantage of being fairly easy to replace, should the worship times change. The sign face is fit into slots in the pressure-treated 6x6 support posts, fastened with glavanized lag screws, countersunk and plugged.

Although this is a poor photograph, we've included
Garden Chapel because it's such an interesting project. It consists of a relatively large (approx. 8'w x 10'h) redwood sign face, sandblasted on both sides. This is built into a unique triangular frame of 4x8 cedar. There is also a dove, carved from seperate pieces of cedar, on each side. This sign was built quite some years ago, and has become something of a local landmark. It was knocked down by a drunk driver once, and church volunteers repaired it. The tiny chapel itself burned down, but the sign remained. The last time we saw church elders, they planned to build a bigger and better chapel, and wanted the sign to be part of it.

How They're Made:

Sandblasted sign faces are most often made of HDU, or high-density urethane. This material has been proven superior to redwood in long-term exterior durability. Backgrounds are sandblasted in dramatic wood grain patterns using special jigs. Structural reinforcement is included, as required, using pressure-treated lumber. All surfaces are sealed, then finished with top-quality paints and stains designed for extended outside exposure in a variety of climates.

What They Cost:

Our cost for each project is based on $60 per square foot. This cost is for a fully finished one-sided sign, designed and finished to your specifications. Signs finished on both sides are always thicker, usually include  screw-eyes or integral pressure-treated wood frames, and are generally priced at $110.00 per square foot.
